The Ecstatic Tradition in Poetry reaches back over centuries and continents from Hindu and Sufi Mystics (Rumi, Han Shan, Kabir, and Mirabai) into our present day (Gary Snyder, Denise Levertov, Robert Bly, and Ocean Vuong). Ecstasy, from the Greek Exstasis, means to “stand outside or beyond oneself,” transported by divine love/vision.
This workshop will take a close look at ecstatic poems; prompts and writing exercises will follow.
All levels of aptitude and experience are welcome as we fortify and widen our ecstatic writing practices.
Space is limited to 12 participants.
The cost of this workshop is $25.
Reduced-rate workshop fees ($5) are available for enrolled students of any age.
